What is an Extrusion Profile?

Extrusion profile is produced by a process called as plastic extrusion. It results into plastic profiles of different shapes and sizes. The raw plastic is melted and formed into a continuous profile. Plastic extrusion is mainly used for manufacturing window frames, pipes and tubes. To extrude plastic, resin (a thermoplastic natural) is used. It has small beaded form. After being treated these beads are converted into different types of profiles. These extrusion profiles are widely used in providing final finishing to the home and office spaces decoration. They give a finished look to the windows and doors. They actually beautify the space. These extrusion profiles come in different shapes, sizes and colors.

Edge Banding And Edging Tape

Edge banding is a process where an associated narrow strip of material used for creating durable and aesthetically edges which are trim. This is a process used when the carpentry is getting finished. It is used for covering the exposed sides of materials which include particle board, plywood and Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF). This method increases the durability and gives an impression of a valuable material. Face frames and molding are also used as a substitute for edge banding. Different materials used for edge banding include wood, acrylic, PVC, melamine and ABS.

Traditionally, it was a manual process which required ordinary carpentry tools and materials. In modern times, edge banding is applied to the substance by using a hot melt adhesive. The process has now become an automated process. The substrate primer is used as a bonding agent between the hot melted adhesive and the substrate. Thicker edge banding requires a slight concavity for a tight glue line which may vary from 0.018 inch to 5 millimeter. Edgebander is the machine used for edge banding. The work of the machine is to trim the trailing edges, bonding the edge banding to the substrate and buffing of the finished edges.

Edging tapes are used for concealing the edges. They contain a heat sensitive adhesive on their backside which makes the work of applying hassle free. There are different colours and different types of edging tape used for edge banding. Some of them are Acryl 3D, ABS, ABS high gloss, Aluminium and Veneer sandwich edging.

Extrusion Profile to suit all the industrial requirements

The extrusion profiles are created by the method of extrusion. The extruded profiles are created by using materials like plastic polymers or metal like aluminums. The plastic polymer is melted down to a temperature when it is able to take random shapes and sizes which are suited for industrial needs and requirements. The extruded profiles are used for tubes, frames, pipes and many other components. To give out the extruded profiles an industrial material called resin is loaded into a gravity hopper which in turn is mounted on the extrusion cylinder. To get the desirable effects, chemical glazes and colorants are mixed with the resin before it is loaded on to the extrusion drum. After this, the whole process is conducted under supervision and tested accordingly to get the desired outcome to fit the needs.
