Edge Banding is the process of using a narrow material commonly made out of PVC, ABS, melamine, acrylic, wood, and wood veneer to cover the sleek edges on furniture while giving them a final finish. These narrow materials used in the process are known as Edging tape or Edge bands. One can find quite a lot of companies that are popularly known for their customized solutions, supreme quality products, and product variations such as colors and sizes. Edging not only protects the furniture making it last long but the colorful rims also add brightness and life to the space.

Methods of applying edge banding:

Edging tapes are highly convenient to use and work with. The only things required are the edging tape, an edge trimmer, and a normal clothes iron. One can use any type of iron but the small ones are most preferred as they work well on the narrow and sleek edges of furniture. First, cut the edging tape about 1” wider than the required size. Turn the iron and set it to medium or ‘cotton’ setting and let it heat. Start at one end of the surface and carry on to the end slowly and steadily while applying force on the tape. Apply pressure until the adhesive of the tape has cooled off and hardened. Lastly, carefully trim the ends using the edge trimmer.
